FAMU PICKED SIXTH IN 2008 MEAC FOOTBALL RACE
S.C. State favored over defending champ Delaware State to win league crown
NORFOLK, Va. (July 25) –The Florida A&M Rattler football team was picked to finish sixth in the 2008 run for the roses in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference according to a preseason poll of the league’s head coaches and sports information directors released Friday afternoon.
In the balloting, the Rattlers garnered 120 points, with the South Carolina State Bulldogs (272) finishing as the preseason favorite for the second straight year. Read more

Three FAMU players on first team; two more pegged second team Friday
NORFOLK, Va. (July 25) –Five Florida A&M Rattler football players were named to the 2008 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Preseason All-Star Team announced Friday afternoon during the annual MEAC Football Kickoff Luncheon here at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel.
Three FAMU gridders, senior middle linebacker Vernon Wilder, a 6-0, 248-pounder from Miami, Florida; tight end Taj Jenkines, a 6-4, 225-pound junior from Jacksonville, Florida, and tailback Philip Sylvester, a 5-10, 185 sophomore from Marianna, Florida, were first-team selections. Read more
